Getting started at UTS

Fresh out of school, or coming back to study as a mature age student?

Either way, many students report that getting prepared early is key to your success. Plan to get as many things as you can into place before semester starts.

  • Find out what type of assistance you're entitled to
  • Explore what support you're likely to need and be clear about saying that you need it
  • When you find that suuport, test it out in advance!
  • Bear in mind it can take some time for key texts to be converted into alternative formats
  • Think of your Academic Liason Officer (ALO) as your Faculty insider. Don't wait to make contact; get to know them in the first few weeks of semester.

Plan to be around for UTS Orientation running for a week in February each year. A big team of Peer Networkers (experienced UTS students) in orange t-shirts will be around for guidance and info.
